Our Comment:

1. We strongly protest to the Government not to charge Raja Petra under ISA. As the Government is well aware, we strongly oppose ISA to the bones.

2. We do not agree to the following statements made by Raja Petra in his article in question:

"Then they do everything that Islam is against without blinking an eyelid as if this is what God Himself prescribed.

But only Muslims pretend to be good when they are actually bad. Only Muslims talk about their religion non-stop while going against everything their religion stands for.

Muslims do not know how to be Muslims. Muslims do everything Islam is against. Muslims are hypocrites."

These are very dangerous statements. A devout Muslim should not simply throw these kinds of statements to the public. If these statements are not true, then the result is that whatever is being said will come back to the person who has made these statements. As we have cautioned before on safeguarding our 'Shahadah', accusing a Muslim to be a 'kafir', apostate or hypocrite is prohibited in Islam. We do not want the reverse effect to befall the accuser.

3. So, we strongly recommend the Government to charge Raja Petra in the Syariah Court as this concerns Islam. They have to be very objective and put the proper perspective around Raja Petra that has led him to be in his current state of mind. As we have said before, Raja Petra has been duped by Dr Mahathir. Until Raja Petra seeks treatment, his condition will worsen and his family will be affected.

4. A number of his commentators in Malaysia Today are equally responsible for these insults. So, if Raja Petra cannot control and guide his commentators, then he should be willing to shoulder the responsibility that he has created an atmosphere for these insults to Islam to occur.

5. Therefore, Raja Petra should refrain himself from stereotyping Muslims and using a 'westernized' approach to talk about Islam. Let Islam be propagated in a dignified and glorified approach as done by the 'salafus salih'. We are not against Malaysia Today or Raja Petra for that matter in this case. He should realize that his strong point is exposing corruption and wrong doings in the Government and elsewhere and his weak point is his understanding of Islam as a complete way of life and his approach of propagating 'Da'wah'.

Best Regards.........

Assalam mu 'alaikum Brother,

Ramadhan greetings!

I understand and appreciate your concerns on the forgoing paragraphs. It is not goodwill if Raja Petra were to accuse "all" Muslims as meant in those paragraphs. And it is dishonest of him of him if that were to be the case. The correct forum, as you rightly put it, is the Syari'ah Court.

However, I have followed his writings to be fair and consistant and he represents a growing size of born-again and not unenlightened Muslims who dissent with Orthodoxy, as I do, too! Truth will stand on the premises of its essence and its systemic culture. As historically, in Islam, there has always been dissent and constructive attempt to expound all disagreements and sift the grains from the chaff. In Islamic history even the very learned have not escaped from persecution under the guise of religious zeal.

You point out a constructive suggestion that the Syari'ah Court is the forum and it must stand the test of this challenge, if Muslims are to be respected as adherents of a profound religion.

WaAllahu 'alam!

Wa'alaikum salam wr. wb.

Ramadhan Al-Mubarak Geetings to you too.

Dear salak, our brother in Islam,

Sorry for the late reply since we were offline the whole of yesterday.

Thanks for your comments. We could'nt agree more with you.

We are not against dissidents at all. This is the openness that we practice. Even during the 'Khulafa Ar-Rashidin r.a.'s' time, dissidents were not suppressed. However, if they threaten the 'Aqidah' of the 'Muslim Ummah' like during Caliph Abu Bakr r.a.'s time, then we will definitely have to take action against them as depicted in the videos on 'Spread Of Islam In Java' on our blog.

How we wish that everyone can put things in their proper places and perspectives so that this World can be a better place to live in.

Wassalam.........
